How do I turn off autocorrect on my iMac?

It's pretty hard for my cats to write in LOlspeak when fussy Mr. iOfficious gets all iPedantic and tries to "correct" their spelling. So I went into the System Preferences looking for autocorrect. Nope. Then I went into "keyboard." Still no luck.

Here's how to turn off autocorrect on the iMac:

1. go into System Preferences
2. click on Language and Text
3. Click on Text
4. Unclick "Correct spelling automatically" 

Problem solved.
